I loved art when I was at high school, but like many people I got in my own way. Instead of going off to University to study textiles, I went with the option that I thought would pay my mortgage. It was not until I was a customer experience volunteer at the Victoria and Albert museum that I started to get interested in art again.
I was asked to give a presentation to the 2012 London Olympic volunteers on why I had become a volunteer at the museum. I told them about my struggles at school and that I used to look out the window and day dream about a better life. Years later, I was at work looking out the window thinking the same thought.
Then I found the museum and Raphael’s Cartoons and my journey to becoming a Curator started.
Look forward to seeing you at the exhibition x
I love clothes and how they can be used convey who you are. I started to collect clothes as a teenager and like most teenagers I followed fashion.
As I got older and hopefully wiser I realised that following Fashion was a never ending job and expensive.
I felt that I wasn’t entirely happy on the inside – I didn’t feel like myself so decided to stop following Fashion and just wear what I liked and suited me.
So what is this show about? It about mixing clothes from my own wardrobe, vintage, second hand clothes together to create a number of styles that can be emulated without breaking the bank.
This show is about showing peoples personality through what they are wearing and thinking about how you use what you have in your wardrobe to create new looks.
